If you're a man of a certain age—over 35—there's a better than average chance that Phoebe Cates was a seminal part of your sexual awakening—pun fully intended. She's in two of the most groundbreaking and memorable movies of the 1980s—Fast Times at Ridgemont High & Gremlins—and managed to balance her girl next door cuteness with raw, untamed sexuality.

The brunette beauty turns 55 today, which is mind-blowing in and of itself, but even more earth-shattering is the fact that she has fewer than 20 credited films to her name. That's right, Phoebe more or less hung it up in the early 90s, appearing on screen once since 1994—in 2001's The Anniversary Party. She left behind a legacy that ensures she'll be immortalized, though, and her nude scenes all happened early in her career when she was in her prime.

Of course we all know her amazing red bikini scene from Fast Times set to "Moving in Stereo" by The Cars, but she also went briefly nude by flashing her ass during the climax of Private School! Most interestingly, however, was her role in Paradise, a Blue Lagoon rip-off where she played Brooke Shields to Willie Aames' Christopher Atkins, and one went step farther than Brooke by going fully nude in the film.

Check out the gallery for some amazing nude memories, but hit play on the video below before that to get yourself in the right mood. Happy Birthday Phoebe, you remain second to none all these years later!
